Tellusthepoint helps communities to create closer ties among residents, schools and employers to enable linked learning. Whether they are cities, counties or states, communities have a special role to play in linking learning to life because they create laws that affect all areas of life. Everyone will benefit from the closer ties that Tellusthepoint helps communities to create: students will be more engaged in learning and better prepared for work if employers help schools to link learning to real life, businesses or employers are more likely to get qualified workers if they help schools to prepare students for available jobs, and communities will benefit from having more effective schools, better employment opportunities for their residents, and more vibrant economies.

On Tellusthepoint, communities include city, county and state governments. Tellusthepoint’s success depends on cooperation from communities, because education, business and everything else in life occurs within the laws you create. You are also relatively large employers with workers in a wide variety of industries. As a community member of Tellusthepoint, we encourage you to commit to do at least one of the following:

(1) Use Tellusthepoint to analyze how you use schoolwork in your community,

(2) Use Tellusthepoint to give feedback to schools/colleges about how you use schoolwork in your community,

(3) Use Tellusthepoint to post internships and jobs in your community that are linked to subjects taught in school,

(4) Use Tellusthepoint to connect with schools and colleges in your community to link learning to real life, or

(5) Use Tellusthepoint to connect with employers/businesses in your community to link learning to real life.

To provide more details about how you use knowledge in your city, county or state government, we invite you to encourage your employees to join Tellusthepoint (or at least complete the Survey of High School Graduates), and to give feedback in the “Explore” subjects sections of the site. By sharing on Tellusthepoint, you will help us in our mission to ensure that students everywhere graduate with the knowledge and skills they need.
